I am a big fan of Lisa Scottoline, but not so much of historical fiction. I preordered Eternal automatically when it was first available without reading the synopsis. When I received the book and looked at the topic, I was hesitant. However, from the moment I started reading, I was hooked. The characters drew me in. The depth of each one made me feel as if I knew them. I was with them through the highs and lows in their lives. I have been to Rome twice and tried to picture the locations where these families lived and their surroundings. The history and politics of the WWII era is once again a heartbreaking reminder of our past. Eternal is one of the best books I have ever read. This was a 10 star book. Fabulous, each character was so vivid. I have been to Italy twice so could picture some of the scenes in the book. I am Jewish and read alot of WW2 and books on the holocaust.Lisa scottoline has outdone herself and I cried and cried. Had trouble putting the book down and now I'm sorry I finished reading it.
